Water Me! (re-run)

The Great Sardine Search

Captain Sky's Pirates

Truly a job well done, Summer troupe! The script was amazing as always, with the pacing, hilarious banter and especially the plot twist! I do love that about Mankai's stories. The flyer too, was really well done! The colours, font and arrangement really caught the eye, you wouldn't expect it was made by an undergraduate. The costumes this time were really flashy and colorful, as well as tasteful and well-made.
The actors were amazing this time round as well! I was unfortunately unable to catch Water Me! live, but I do have a copy of the recording. You can really see how everyone grew since then. Sumeragi has really grown so much from his stage actor debut in Water Me!. I've heard about the incident involving him, but I honestly wouldn't have guessed something like that happened, seeing his performance in Susume. Ikaruga really seems like a theatre chameleon, easily adapting to whatever role being thrown at him. The way he spoke, carried himself were all very cool, and I was totally sucked into his acting! Miyoshi playing a villain was refreshing, his personality seems quite different from the strict and severe Paul, but his serious expressions were also very cool. Rurikawa really nailed his portrayal of Black Beard Francoise, tough as nails and also sly as a fox. Personally, I liked the scene where Francoise and Henry were facing off after she mixed sleeping medicine into the food. Sakisaka's Henry was absolutely fantastic, the way Sakisaka carried himself did give off a subtly mysterious air, I couldn't help but get drawn to his character. Especially the scene where Henry disarmed Paul and talked down to him, that was one of my favourite scenes. That gap between Henry's outward persona among Sky's crew and the "real him" was really quite exciting, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time.
All in all, summer troupe did a beautiful job for Captain Sky's Pirates, and I would definitely recommend this play to anyone interested in theatre, and of course, any rerun of this show.
